Pick Your Own

"Pick Your Own Apples" is an outdoor activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The fresh air, sunshine and walk are healthy activities. The hayride to the fields and orchards is an adventure, and, of course, the fruit always tastes better when you've just picked it yourself. On our website, we offer helpful suggestions for ways to prepare and preserve the fruit that you harvest. Visit our PYO page for dates and apple varieties ready.

Choose from our varieties of already picked apples waiting for you in the Apple House Market. Depending on what time of year you stop by we will have anywhere from six to sixteen varieties to choose from. Whether you’re looking for that perfect apple for baking, sauce, eating fresh, or just some good ole apple bobbing we’ve got just what you need!

GoldRush is as rich in color as it is in taste. Its skin is gold often mixed with some red and green, and its combination of high sugar and acid make it a rich, spicy, complex treat. This crunchy, aromatic apple is a late-season variety, ready for picking in October. An excellent keeper, GoldRush is an all-purpose apple.

GoldRush, a Golden Delicious parent with crosses of Siberian crab apple, Winesap, Melrose, and Rome Beauty. Its development began in 1945, but it took until 1973 for the first seedling to be planted at Purdue University by the cooperative breeding program of the Indiana, Illinois, and New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Stations. GoldRush was released in 1993 and given its name for its golden color and rush of delicious flavor.
